  • Attaches to the 未然形 (mizenkei, imperfective form) of verbs. The sound change of auō takes place. For example,  (かえ) (kaeru) (かえ) (kaera) + (u) (かえ)ろう (kaerō).
  • (u) is only used after godan verbs. よう () is used with other verb classes.
