Etymology 1
So called because the people are said to use sa instead of la. The resemblance with the past participle of salar (“to salt”) is coincidental.
Adjective
salat (feminine salada, masculine plural salats, feminine plural salades)
- The use of articles with s in certain Catalan dialects, as opposed to the usual ones with l. These articles descend from Latin ipse and its forms, rather than ille, from which the articles in other Catalan dialects and Romance languages descended.
