Etymology

In the meaning of a tool or instrument, may originate from a combination of the Proto-Slavic tool suffix *-dlo (Russian -ло (-lo), e.g. мы́ло (mýlo, soap), ра́ло (rálo, plow), ши́ло (šílo, awl)) + the diminutive -ка (-ka).
