The о form is unstressed except in the idiom бок о́ бок.
The form о is usually used before consonants. In some cases before consonants the form обо is used. Before an iotated vowel and before the pronoun их the forms об and o are used interchangeably.
Instead of его, её, the forms beginning with н- are used: о него, о неё.
