- Though usage of "due to" as a preposition is common, some speakers will object and recommend owing to instead, reserving due for use as an adjective only. Reliable voices (such as Oxford, M-W, etc.) acknowledge this debate, then commonly conclude that more recently this usage of "due to" is fully acceptable.
