Etymology

Hồ (a common Vietnamese surname; from Sino-Vietnamese ) + Chí Minh ("enlightened will"; from Sino-Vietnamese ). It is the most common pseudonym of Nguyễn Sinh Cung (1890-1969), the founder of modern Vietnam.
