Asia
English

The continent of Asia, by the standard definition delimited by the Urals.

Asia (the Roman province)
Etymology
From Ancient Greek Ἀσῐ́ᾱ (Asíā), from Mycenaean Greek 𐀀𐀯𐀹𐀊 (a-si-wi-ja /aswiyā/), adjective potentially from Hittite 𒀸𒋗𒉿 (Aššuwa, “northwest Anatolia”) or Akkadian 𒀀𒋗 (“to go out, to rise”), a reference to the rising sun, hence “land of the sunrise.”
