Borrowed from Bactrian πορο (poro), πουρο (pouro, “son”), from Proto-Iranian [Term?]. Compare Sogdian [script needed] (puric, “lady”), also a Bactrian borrowing. Akin to Avestan 𐬞𐬎𐬚𐬭𐬀 (puθra), Parthian pwhr (puhr). Previously considered a Parthian borrowing.
