Etymology 1
First attested in the Seokbo sangjeol (釋譜詳節 / 석보상절), 1447, as Middle Korean 둟 (twulh). Other Middle Korean examples include 두 (twu), 둘 (twur) and 두을 (twuur).[1] Possibly cognate with Ainu ツ゜ (tu, “two”).[2]
