Usage notes

ស្លាប់ has a neutral connotation; for animals, you should use ងាប់...ងាប់ is pejorative when referring to human beings. Use សុគត or អនិច្ចធម្ម when speaking of Buddhist monks; and use សោយទិវង្គត for the king. There are numerous euphemisms for the verb ‘to die’, such as ទទួលអនិច្ចកម្ម.
