From Proto-Indo-Aryan *(s)páśyati, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *spáĉyati, from Proto-Indo-European *spéḱyeti, present form of *speḱ-; see there for cognates. Also compare Sanskrit दृश् (dṛś).
