շրթունք

Armenian

Etymology

From Old Armenian շրթունք (šrtʿunkʿ), plural of շուրթն (šurtʿn), derived from *շուր (šur), whence also շուրջ (šurǰ, around).

Although in Old Armenian շրթունք (šrtʿunkʿ) denoted the plural of շուրթն (šurtʿn), in Modern Armenian both the direct descendant of the latter շուրթ (šurtʿ) and շրթունք are used to refer to one lip and have own plural forms.
