  1. (indefinite pronoun) nobody, no one; (with negative) anybody, anyone
    Я никого́ не зна́ю. — I don’t know anybody.
    Никто́ не зна́ет. — Nobody knows.
    but: Ни он, ни кто друго́й не зна́ет. — Neither he nor anyone else knows.
    Note: prepositions are always interposed, dividing the word in two:
    Я ни у кого́ не́ был. — I haven’t visited anybody.
    Он ни с кем не говори́т. — He’s not speaking to anybody.
