See κλείς (kleís). Stem Attic κλεί- or Ancient Attic κλῃ- from root κλαF- (from which Latin claudo (I close)) Vowel change κληF- With affix -j- hence κληF-j- > Ionic κλη-ΐ-ω > κλῄ-ω and again with vowel change κλεί-ω.
