- Holotype: ESUW, ♀, 1988–1989.
- Type locality: COSTA RICA: Guanac, Arenales, W. side, Volcan Cacao, 900m.
- Etymology: Named for Vulcan, the Roman god of fire, in reference to most of the type series being collected at Volcan Cacao.
