From Proto-Albanian *ϑīniā, remade after the class of fem. ā-stems, from Proto-Indo-European *ḱi(e)h1- (“dark(-coloured), grey”). Cognate to Old Church Slavonic sinь (sinĭ, “darkblue”).[1]
