From Proto-Albanian *staiga, from Proto-Indo-European *stóygʰos (“way”), from *steygʰ-. Cognate to Ancient Greek στοῖχος (stoîkhos, “line, row”), Gothic staiga (staiga, “way”), Latvian staĩga (“walking”).[1]
