From Proto-Albanian *staiga, from Proto-Indo-European *stóygʰos (way), from *steygʰ-. Cognate to Ancient Greek στοῖχος (stoîkhos, line, row), Gothic staiga (staiga, way), Latvian staĩga (walking).[1]
