sebesten (plural sebestens)

  1. The mucilaginous drupaceous fruit of two East Indian trees (Cordia myxa and Cordia latifolia), sometimes used medicinally in pectoral diseases.
  2. (West Indies) The similar fruit of Cordia sebestana.
