rosmaninho
Portuguese

rosmaninho (Lavandula stoechas)
Etymology
From Latin rosmarīnus (“rosemary”).
Pronunciation
Noun
rosmaninho m (plural rosmaninhos)
- (botany) Spanish lavender (Lavandula stoechas)
- (botany, nonstandard, colloquial) rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis)
Usage notes
Even though rosmaninho is derived from rosmarīnus (“rosemary”) it designates an entirely different genus of plants. In colloquial usage it is therefore sometimes confused with rosemary, which is alecrim in Portuguese.
