From Proto-Albanian *grē-(h), from Proto-Indo-European *gʷʰer- (“warm, hot”). Cognate to Old Church Slavonic грѣти (grěti, “to warm”). The form may have entered the class of Albanian inchoatives in -sk-. The anlaut points to a formation with the prefix (a)n-.[1]
