From Proto-Albanian *grē-(h), from Proto-Indo-European *gʷʰer- (warm, hot). Cognate to Old Church Slavonic грѣти (grěti, to warm). The form may have entered the class of Albanian inchoatives in -sk-. The anlaut points to a formation with the prefix (a)n-.[1]
