Etymology
Borrowed from Gaulish *gobbos, from Proto-Celtic *gobbos (“muzzle, snout, beak”), from Proto-Indo-European *ǵoph₃o- (“eat, masticate (of animals)”).[1] Compare Irish gob, Scottish Gaelic gob (“beak, bill”) and English gob.
