Etymology

From Ottoman Turkish اریمك (erimek), from Old Turkic erü- (to melt), from Proto-Turkic *ẹri- (id.), possibly from Proto-Altaic *ire (id.)[1]. Cognate with Azerbaijani ərimək, Kazakh еру (erw), Kyrgyz эрүү (erüü), Yakut ир (ir, to melt), Turkmen eremek, Tuvan эриир (ärïïr), Uzbek erimoq.
