endem

Albanian

Etymology

From Proto-Albanian *ende-, from Proto-Indo-European *h1(e)ndh- 'way, to go'. Cognate to Ancient Greek (aor.) ἐνθει̃ν (entheĩn, to come) and Sanskrit अध्वन् (ádhvan-, way)[1]. Possibly related to ἄνδινος περίπατος, a phrase attested in Greek, possibly of Illyrian origin.[2] One might also consider a metaphorical derivation of end 'to weave'.

Verb

endem (first-person singular past tense (u) enda, participle endur)

  1. to gallivant (about a place), gad about, to wander
