ddim

Welsh

Pronunciation

  • IPA(key): /ðɪm/

Particle

ddim

  1. Soft mutation of dim.
Dw i ddim yn hoffi coffi.
    I don’t like coffee.

Usage notes

The negative particle dim is mutated to ddim when it appears directly after the subject of the sentence, which is very often. Colloquially the mutated form ddim is found also at the beginning of a clause, as in Ddim o gwbl! (Not at all!).

dim can be reduced to 'm in colloquial speech.
