Etymology

From Ottoman Turkish جوشمق (cūşmak, to boil up, overflow, become lively), earliest attestation is from Old Anatolian Turkish [script needed] (cūş, boil). Either from Persian جوش (juš, boil, simmer) or directly from جوشیدن (jūšidan, to heat, boil), however direct verb borrowings in Turkish historically has not been preferred.
