Etymology
From Proto-Indo-European *kl̥h₂wós (“bald”) which contains the suffix *-wós (whence Latin -vus), from *kalw-, *galw- (“naked, bald”). Cognate with Avestan 𐬐𐬀𐬎𐬭𐬎𐬎𐬀 (kauruua, “bald”), Sanskrit कुल्व (kulva, “bald”), Persian کل (kal).[1]
