aliai

Lithuanian

Etymology

An adverb formed on the basis of Proto-Indo-European *h₂ol-io-.[1] Related to Old Irish uile (all, whole), Proto-Germanic *allaz (all),[2] Ancient Greek ἄλλος (állos, other), Old Armenian այղ (aył); all from Proto-Indo-European h₂élyos[3] (intriguingly, however, this word is not discussed by Derksen).[4] For the suffix, compare visái (entirely).
