From Proto-Celtic *ageti, from Proto-Indo-European *h₂eǵ-. The future stem is from Proto-Celtic *ɸiblāti, reduplicated future of *ɸel-, from Proto-Indo-European *pelh₂- (“to drive”) (compare Latin pellō).
