Etymology

From French Vichy, from Occitan Vichèi, phonetically evolved from the Latin place nameVippiacus, itself named after an agricultural field belonging to a farmer named Vippius. An alternate theory attributes the name to the Latin vicus calidus, meaning "warm settlement."[1]
