Truthahn
German
Etymology
Compound of trut and Hahn (“rooster, chicken”). The first element probably imitative of the turkey's cry to its young, but Kluge and some others alternatively suggest Middle Low German drōten (“threaten”) in reference to the turkey's threatening cry.[1][2]
