Satanism (countable and uncountable, plural Satanisms)

  1. Worship of Satan (usually synonymous with "the Devil").
    Religious groups that follow Satanism include Luciferians and Laveyans.
  2. A profession, philosophy, or ideological construct featuring a positive, admirable, or useful association to the figure, character or entity known as 'Satan'; or, featuring opposition to all morality and the procurement of what is wanted regardless of the consequences concerning others.
  3. LaVeyan Satanism.

Usage notes

  • Satanism is not always capitalized in all senses.
  • Self-identified Satanists typically use the term Satanism in sense 3, and use the terms Satanic and Satanist analogously.
