Etymology
First attested after 1372 in the Old Hungarian era. Formed from the connection of the ablativus suffix -l and the suffix -g.

Suffix
-lag
- (adverb suffix) -ly. Added to a word to form an adverb. Today it is mainly used with adjectives suffixed with -i and present participles. In the past, it was added to different parts of speech.
- egyhangú (“monotone”) → egyhangúlag (“unanimously”)
