Suffix

-önte

  1. (distributive suffix) Used to form the distributive-temporal case.
    ősz (“autumn”) → őszönte (“every autumn”)

Usage notes

  • (distributive suffix) It is used only with temporal expressions. Variants:
    -onta is added to some back vowel words ending in a consonant
    nap (“day”) → naponta (“daily”)
    -anta is added to some back vowel words ending in a consonant
    nyár (“summer”) → nyaranta (“every summer”)
    -ente is added to unrounded front vowel words ending in a consonant
    év (“year”) → évente (“yearly”)
    -önte is added to rounded front vowel words ending in a consonant
    ősz (“autumn”) → őszönte (“every autumn”)
