Etymology

Compound of 天 (ama, “heaven, heavens”) +‎ 降り (kudari, “the 連 (れん)用 (よう)形 (けい) (ren'yōkei, “stem or continuative form”) of the verb [[{{{1}}}#Japanese|{{{1}}}]]. of verb 降 (ふ)る (furu, “to descend, to come down”)”).[1]
