Etymology

Borrowed from English transmitter.[1][2]

Also found as トランスミッター (toransumittā) with a long final vowel.

This form, with the short final vowel, is now the more common spelling, as part of the common phonetic process whereby long final vowels in borrowed words are shortened over time.
