Compare French Argentine f (“Argentina; Argentine”, noun) or Argentin m (“Argentine”, adjective), English Argentine (adjective). Early transcriptions of foreign words may have used ゼ (ze) for /(d)ʒe/ more often. Compare also different transcriptions of the word angel: エンゼル (enzeru) and エンジェル (enjeru); or ロサンゼルス (Rosanzerusu, “Los Angeles”).
