ḏj ꜥnḫ
Egyptian
Etymology
Perfective passive participle of rḏj (“to give”) + ꜥnḫ (“life”), thus ‘given life’. Unlike other such passive participial clauses, this one has been fossilized without any resumptive pronoun (a construction like *ḏj n.f ꜥnḫ would be expected).
Pronunciation
- (modern Egyptological) IPA(key): /d͡ʒi ɑːnx/
- Conventional anglicization: dji ankh
