Etymology
From Old Assamese স্বপন (sbopono), borrowed from Sanskrit স্ৱপ্ন (svápna), from Proto-Indo-European *swépnos, *súpnos (“dream”), which both are derived from Proto-Indo-European *swep-. Cognates include Latin somnus, Ancient Greek ὕπνος (húpnos) and Old English swefn (English sweven).
