Usage note

Like other Assamese kinship nouns, বাপ (bap) uses the -এক (-ek) suffix for 3rd person. 2nd person can use the -এৰে (-ere) suffix for contemptuous manner. For example,

মোৰ বাপ ― mür bap ― My father
আপোনাৰ বাপ ― apünar bap ― Your father
তোৰ বাপেৰে ― tür bapere ― Your father
তাৰ বাপেক ― tar bapek ― His father

বাপ (bap) without a suffix is less common, দেউতা (deuta) is mostly used.
