From Proto-Indo-Aryan *bhora (“dawn”). Compare Punjabi ਭੋਰ (bhor), Gujarati ભોર (bhor), Oriya ଭୋର (bhorô). Probably related to भोलानाथ (bholānāth, “Lord Shiva as husband of Ushas, goddess of dawn”).
