Etymology
Likely borrowed from Proto-Dravidian *kuṭāri (compare modern Tamil குடாரி (kuṭāri, “axe”)).
Some linguists have suggested Proto-Indo-European *kl̥tḗr, with Latin culter (“butcher's knife”) as a cognate but this is very uncertain.
