From आस् (ās, “to sit down”), possibly from Proto-Indo-European [Term?]. Cognate with Ancient Greek ἧμαι (hêmai, “to be seated”), Hittite [script needed] (ēša) and Hittite [script needed] (āšzi).^[1]
