From ܝܗܘܕ (Y(ə)hūḏ, “Judea”), from Hebrew יְהוּדָה (Yəhûḏâ) + the feminine gentilic suffix ܝܬܐ- (-āytā(ʾ)). Compare Arabic يَهُودِيَّة (Yahūdiyya(t)) and Hebrew יְהוּדִיָּה (Yəhûḏiyyâ).
