ستة
Arabic
Etymology
From the Proto-Semitic *šidθ- (“six”), cognates with Hebrew שישה \ שִׁשָּׁה (shishá), Classical Syriac ܫܬ݁ܳܐ (štāʾ), Ge'ez ስድስቱ (sədəstu), Ugaritic 𐎘𐎘𐎚 (ṯṯt), and Akkadian 𒐋 (šeššet). Ultimately from a Proto-Afro-Asiatic root; compare to Egyptian sjsw, Central Atlas Tamazight ⵙⴹⵉⵚ (sḍiṣ), and Hausa shidà.
