بريد
Arabic
Etymology
Borrowed from Byzantine Greek βέρηδος (bérēdos), βέρεδος (béredos, “post-horse”), from Latin verēdus. On the other hand, according to Zimmern, from Akkadian [script needed] (purīdu, perēdu, “hasty”).
