  1. to dig
  2. (by extension) to search, to look through
    ‏חפר בארגז החפצים.‎‎ ― khafár be'argáz hakhafatsím. ― [He] searched in the stuffs crate.
    • Genesis 26:19, with translation of the New International Version:
