Old Armenian

Etymology

The origin is unknown. The comparison with Latin nux, Proto-Celtic *knūs, Proto-Germanic *hnuts is rejected because Proto-Indo-European *knew-, reconstructed for these, cannot yield Armenian նուշ (nuš).

Related to Georgian ნუში (nuši), Bats ნუშ (nuš), Udi нуш (nuš, almond), but according to Ačaṙean these are borrowed from Armenian.
