Old Armenian
Etymology
The origin is unknown. The comparison with Latin nux, Proto-Celtic *knūs, Proto-Germanic *hnuts is rejected because Proto-Indo-European *knew-, reconstructed for these, cannot yield Armenian նուշ (nuš).
Related to Georgian ნუში (nuši), Bats ნუშ (nuš), Udi нуш (nuš, “almond”), but according to Ačaṙean these are borrowed from Armenian.
Noun
նուշ • (nuš)
- almond (nut)
- դառն նուշ ― daṙn nuš ― acorn
