Etymology

From Proto-Indo-European *gʷot-ye-. Cognates include Proto-Germanic *kweþaną and perhaps Sanskrit गदति (gádati, “to speak articulately, say, relate, tell”).

Verb

կոչեմ • (kočʿem)  (aorist indicative կոչեցի)

1. to call, to invite, to invoke

   ի մի վայր կոչել ― i mi vayr kočʿel ― to convoke, to call together, to assemble

   կոչել յօգնութիւն ― kočʿel yōgnutʿiwn ― to call on for help, to invoke

   կոչել զօք յետս ― kočʿel zōkʿ yets ― to call back, to revoke; to call off, to bring back

   յետս կոչել զբանսն ― yets kočʿel zbansn ― to unsay, to recall what one has said, to retract, to recant, to revoke
