From Proto-Indo-European *gʷorh₃-o-, from *gʷerh₃-. The aorist stem կեր- (ker-), of the same origin, fills part of the conjugation of ուտեմ (utem, to eat). The -e- of the Armenian noun may have been taken from this verb.
