Etymology
From Proto-Indo-European *sHdʰ-yo- or *seh₂dʰ-yo- (“successful”); cognates include Sanskrit साध्य (sādhyá), साधु (sādhú, “straight, right”), Avestan 𐬵𐬁𐬛𐬭𐬋𐬫𐬁 (hādrōyā, “desire to achieve the goal”), perhaps also Ancient Greek ἰθύς (ithús).[1][2][3]
